Here begins one of two retroactive blog posts to catch you up on the tail end of Putney Ireland 2015! Especially handy if your now-returned students are too exhausted to put all the wonders of their travel into words.
Blogging is pretty challenging from Inishbofin due to a lack of wifi at our homebase, the hostel, and (luckily) students preferred to spend time exploring the island and working on their writing than searching for Internet access. Our last day on the ‘bof, a group of students hung at the hostel with Patrick, editing their writing and even putting the hostel kitchen to good use, while another group set out for the Westquarter loop: a 2.5 hour hike that unspools a variety of coastal scenes–rocky lakeside, the Dún More Cliffs, and the white beach Trá Gheal. It’s enough to make a young writer relax their typical eloquence and spend several hours cycling through “Wow,” “Oh my god,” and “This is amazing.” Here’s a virtual postcard:
Disclaimer: actual beauty is much greater than it appears.
